We honour the humanity in the room.

Our role as intimacy coordinators is one of advocacy and artistry. We believe that the energy by which you create directly impacts the art being made.
Our approach at Intimacy in Arts is human-centric, consent-based and solution led, with 'Yes, And' our core communication philosophy.

Whether we're assisting in script development, offering guidance around language in nudity riders or devising choreography, IIA collaboratively constructs the scene from concept to completion.

IN DEVELOPMENT | pre-production

IN THE BODY | for the performer

ON SET | production

Intimacy Coordinators add value to pre-production stages by assisting with script development, casting, and planning.
Whether the story explores themes of LGBTQIA+, BDSM, Kink or other types of intimacy, we aim to ensure representation is reflective, accessible and accurate.
Employing an Intimacy Coordinator during casting is best practice for productions to ensure transparency, advocacy, and collaboration throughout each stage of development.

Together, we help craft compelling narratives by creating a container where performers can stretch themselves safely, within their personal boundaries.

Through collaboration with the Director, HODs and the performer(s), we'll outline the creative vision and practical requirements for the scene before facilitating consent-based rehearsals designed to support the performers' ability to do mentally, physically, and emotionally challenging work.

Using a multi-tiered system of support, IIA works with the performer to increase the awareness of personal boundaries and the body's needs for physical, emotional and psychological safety and comfort.
Through body-centred approaches and practices (e.g., Somatics, Laban, Yoga, Breathwork), we'll explore ways to deepen bodily awareness so you can greater inform your creative practice and work from a place of inner-connectedness, when simulating intimacy for stage, screen and beyond.
